Breezy Monday

I knew it was going to be chilly and breezy today, so I figured it was a good time to give my Equinox sweater another wear before it gets too warm. It works well layered over a dress—and since I have no shortage of dresses, the possibilities are almost endless!

Dress: Land’s End, ca. 2011

Tights: Hue via Macy’s, ca. 2012

Oldish, newish, used-ish (and a handknit, of course)

Old-ish: This sweater has been in my closet since 2002, I think. So many times I’ve thought about ditching it, but it always hangs on. It’s having a renaissance lately—I’ve worn it twice on the blog and a few more times in real life. It fits me just right, and you can just barely tell here, but it has these cool silky elbow patches.

New-ish: I got this skirt at around this time last year, but I’ve only worn it twice. Back in January I did a year in review post in which I said that I ought to wear my skirts more often. Then I proceeded not to wear a skirt until April 9. (Thank goodness this is the year of style intentions rather than style promises.) But I do love this skirt. I WILL try to wear it more often.

Used-ish: I got these shoes at my favorite consignment store recently, and based on the wear on the sole it seems like they were only worn a few times. They’re such an interesting neutral, and we all know I love a kitten heel. Score!

Sweater: Banana Republic, ca. 2002

Skirt: Banana Republic, ca. 2012

Shoes: Butter, resale, ca. 2013

Cowl: Handknit, ca. 2012  (Pattern: Honey Cowl)

Equinox

image

I just finished this new sweater based on a pattern called Equinox, and I just realized that tomorrow is the spring equinox! I should have waited to wear it until then. Oh, well. And I felt that this full body shot didn’t quite convey its off-the-shoulder-body-skimming awesomeness, so here’s a mirror pic as well.image

Yes, I still have a face.

You may or may not have been wondering why all my pictures have been in profile this week. (You probably haven’t been wondering. But let’s just pretend you have.) I’ve been having a bad face week. Have you ever had one of those? It’s when your face just looks wrong all week for no reason. Luckily it’s back to normal today.

Second-hand hearts

image

That sounds like a good name for a band! If you have a band, feel free to use it.

It’s a little hard to tell in these photos, but this dress has little hearts all over it. It also has one pink heart on the bodice, but it’s covered up by my sweater.

I did wear jeans on Wednesday, and also on Friday, so never fear, jeans week is still going strong.

No uniform today.

I decided to take a break from uniform Friday this week, because I’ve been wanting to wear my sparkly white sweater.

Easy structure

This orange dress is one of my favorite dress shapes for work—a little structure, but still easy to move in for all my up and down and running around. Today I paired it with a white sweater and white tights, and gave it a couple different pops of blue up top.

Dress: Tahari via Macy’s, ca. 2012 (bought with an xmas gift card!)

Uniform, plus

I’m wearing orange socks today.

I also have orange gloves.

The gloves were a gift from a student’s mother last year—so awesome to have handknits that I didn’t have to knit myself!
